Sandplay Therapy is a successful non-verbal modality that offers a child’s psyche a possibility for healing and transformation, inviting them to regain a healthy spontaneity for life. Two case studies will be presented in this two day seminar. These sandplay casework allow participants to explore the interface of family systems while the focus of the work is with the individual child’s psyche, and the attempts to heal early wounding. In depth discussion regarding how symbols offer healing and transformation for the individual, while being held within the context of the family. We will follow sandplay process as a moving, changing story that must be met with containment, safety, and trust in the process as it unfolds.
Judy Zappacosta, MFT, ISST/STA CST-T has been a practicing clinician for 28 years. She has worked extensively with children, as well as adults and families in her private practice. Her clinical work focuses on Jungian psychotherapy, including Sandplay, dreams and the body. Judy serves as a trustee for both the International Society for Sandplay Therapy, and Sandplay Therapists of America. She is a past President of Sandplay Therapists of America, and on the Advisory Board for the Marion Woodman Foundation.
Judy has published work both nationally and internationally and is an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. She has published chapters in Sandplay Supervision, edited by Harriet Friedman and Rie Rodgers Michell as well as Expressive Therapies for Sexual Issues, edited by Sana Loue. Judy teaches summer programs in Switzerland with Caring for the Soul Conferences, offering Sandplay in Switzerland, a two week intensive for continuing education and certification in Sandplay Therapy.download form
