For our June 2019 Study Group, Bobby will lead us inquiring into a man’s hero journey through the Japanese novel “Killing Commendatore” (刺殺騎士團長) by Haruki Murakami (村上春樹).
The hero’s journey is an archetypal theme. In a hero’s journey, the hero must return to the ordinary world where the journey began, transformed by their experience. In this study group, we are going to focus on the hero’s journey of the main character in this latest novel of Haruki Murakami. We will select some major scenes to look at its symbolic meaning. Bobby will also present a young man’s sandplay process for illustration.
